Live Every Day - The Journey of a Horoscope - Day 1

Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

In 2011, my musical friend Michael spent an entire year performing live, at least once a day, for 365 days in a row. I was involved in the planning of the project and went with him for around 160-170 days of the project, either to tour manage his band and film it or just to film.

The project was to last for an entire year, with a gig a day. He wanted to ensure it got a horoscope that gave the best chance of success. So the first question is then what time to make the process officially begin. To me it was either to be midnight at the beginning of the first day, or the time of the first gig. I decided to choose midnight, as it seemed more representational of the entire year, rather than a specific time when one gig started, as those times would vary throughout the project.

This means the chart is set for Midnight on January 1st 2011, in Caracas, Venezuela.

The chart has several characteristics that would not seem ideal for an electional chart: a waning moon, Saturn conjunct the Ascendant and squaring the Sun, with Pluto conjunct the Sun and the Imum Coeli (Ic).

First of all, it's a waning moon, in the Balsamic phase. In a traditional business or partnership, a balsamic phase would not be considered particularly desirable as it can signify the winding down of a project or way of life. In a business, for example, this may not be a desired time to launch, as the energy that is typically being sought is that of the beginning of things, the start of a venture (such as a New Moon phase or First Quarter phase) or the realisation of potential or hard work (such as a Full Moon phase).

However, this not being a business per se, more of an artistic endeavour, the Balsamic Moon is not a necessarily a hindrance. When we were planning this project, initially we were talking about getting corporate sponsorship, about applying for a grant to help fund the project, about recording the shows and selling them at the gigs, about merchandising. By the time we were beginning it, all that had gone out the window and this had become a spiritual journey as much as an artistic endeavour.

More about this journey and the relevance of the horoscope to it all, in PART TWO.
