December 26th to December 31st 2005
MONDAY December 26 Well known sage or philosopher forecasts comment I trust you are enjoying the holiday so far. If you're having a tough time, though, you are not alone. Many people find this season stressful. The fact that they are expected to be cheerful makes them feel doubly bad if they are not. I've tried to take this into account in all the forecasts this week - which is why I have deliberately written in a slightly different way. Each day, your prediction starts with a quote from a well-known sage or philosopher. Today and tomorrow, I'm choosing words from Confucius. |
TUESDAY December 27 Confucius comment Confucius was born in 551BC. He came from what, today, is the Shandong Province of China. He was actually known as K'ung Fu-tze but when scholars took his words to the west, they 'Latinised' his name. Like all great sages and seers, he has devotees and detractors. People love to argue about what he really believed and stood for. His sayings though, remain a great source of inspiration and wisdom. In an attempt to contrast the relentless superficiality of the holiday season, I have shamelessly 'borrowed' some of these to give each forecast a little extra depth today. |
WEDNESDAY December 28 Albert Einstein comment Yesterday, I began each forecast with a quote from Confucius, who lived 2,500 years ago. Today, I'm drawing on the wisdom of a much more modern philosopher. Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879. Like many Pisceans, he was deeply intuitive and imaginative. He knew how to listen to his intellect but he still heard his heart... and he never let the logic of science prevent him from appreciating the mystery of nature. As I worked my way through his sayings to find quotes to support each prediction today, I was amazed by the depth of his insight. |
THURSDAY December 29 Mother Theresa comment So far this week, we've had quotes from two great wise men. Now, it's time to hear from a wise woman. Each prediction today begins with a quote from Mother Teresa who was born on August 27, 1910. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and died in March 1997. Like many Virgos, she was as passionate as she was principled and she believed that actions were far more important than words. Nonetheless, she made a lot of inspiring and insightful remarks. I hope you enjoy the words from her that I have chosen for your sign today. |
FRIDAY December 30 Siddhartha Gautama / Buddha comment Over the holiday I have been including, in each forecast, words from some great, wise people. So far, I have quoted Jesus, Confucius, Einstein and Mother Theresa. Today's predictions all include a comment from Siddhartha Gautama who was born in Nepal, around 563BC. Today, he is better known to millions across the world, as "Buddha". |
