May 30th to June 4th 2005
MONDAY May 30 Venus and Mars comment On top of a hill in Derbyshire, there's now an astrologer, camping with his family. A solar panel, attached to a car battery is charging a laptop computer which is converting his forecasts into e-mails and sending them through a mobile phone to this website. Clever though all this is, here's something that amazes me even more. At dusk tonight, we'll see Venus set... and if we stay up late enough, we'll watch Mars rise. Now THAT'S what I call truly impressive engineering! |
TUESDAY May 31 Moon and Mars comment Early this morning, the Moon and Mars rose over the horizon together. They are due to perform a similar trick just before dawn tomorrow - though they won't be quite so close. Apparently, there are some people who would rather stay in bed than stand out in a field, gazing at this stunning celestial show. Er... for their benefit, I should explain that the proximity of these two heavenly lights, implies a day when people with powerful passions may find it hard to keep these hidden. |
WEDNESDAY June 1 New Planet email Hi Jonathan, Here in New Zealand we have just had news of a new planet. Us Kiwis apparently helped in its discovery. It's several times larger than Jupiter, 15,000 light years away from earth, and twice as far from its solar-type star as the Earth is from the Sun. What does this mean? Cheers Diane

THURSDAY June 2 Recurring dream email Dear Jonathan, I used to have a recurring dream about driving off a bridge into water. A man would be swimming towards the car. When he reached it, I would wake up. Shortly after we married, I told this to my husband who turned white as a ghost.. He had had the same dream for years... but he had been by the water watching the car go in. When he reached the car... he'd wake up! 24 years later, neither of us have had this dream since! Heidi

FRIDAY June 3 Same forecast email Dear Jonathan, I am an Aries, in a legal battle with another Aries. When I feel good about my forecast, I feel bad because I realise the outlook is good for him too. Mary

SATURDAY June 4 The Sun's Secret Companions If you find yourself watching a beautiful sunset this weekend, keep an eye on the sky AFTER dark. The Sun has two secret companions. One will reveal herself briefly as she follows the Sun down just after nightfall. That's Venus. Mercury is immediately below her but he remains invisible for a few more weeks. Later in June though, Mercury becomes part of spectacular show. Watch this space for news. Meanwhile, watch THAT space and, above Venus, you'll see Saturn. Higher still, there's Jupiter. Around 1am, as that planet of hope goes down, you'll see angry Mars rising on the other side of the sky. One sight you won't catch much of, though, is the Moon.
