Not In Front of the Parents..
|
Dear Jonathan, Do astrological influences affect babies and children in the same way as adults? Uli Dear Uli, Babies, in my experience, are very sensitive to the movements of the moon. I'm still not sure, though, how much they 'feel' the other astrological influences on (or in) their charts. When babies become 'children', they definitely start to show the characteristics of their Sun signs... and of the other planets that shape their psychological make-up. But I'm reluctant to cast horoscopes for very young people. I'm always aware of a risk that I'll put ideas into their parents' minds! I'll be giving a talk at the Sunrise Festival in Somerset, UK on Sunday June 6. To get a ticket for the whole event or just for the Sunday, click here. (5 Star members click here.)

Children's Choice
|
Yesterday, I answered a reader's letter about the horoscopes of babies and young people. It occurs to me that I should say more. As a parent (now a grandparent) I'm fascinated by how youngsters seem so sensitive to astrological influences. Yet I usually turn down requests from parents to cast the charts of their children. The purpose of astrology, I feel, is to help us make choices. Yet the younger a child is, the more their choices are made for them by the adults in their lives. Generally, I prefer to consider the charts of their parents or guardians! I'll be giving a talk at the Sunrise Festival in Somerset, UK on Sunday June 6. Load of Old Tattoos
|
Dear Jonathan,
I am considering getting a tattoo of Saturn, based on an ancient picture I found in a book. As an astrologer, do you think this is advisable? Saturn seems to be a big bad planet that can work either for or against an individual. If it is advisable, should I get the tattoo while Saturn is so active in the sky? Ida
Dear Ida, I'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to tattoos. They are so permanent. Yet life is (and people are) very changeable. Why not try a temporary tattoo and see how it feels? I'll be giving a talk at the Sunrise Festival in Somerset, UK on Sunday June 6. To get a ticket for the whole event or just for the Sunday, click here. (5 Star members click here.)

More Questions than Answers
|
Hello Jonathan, I am 17 and would like to know: what, if any, are the astrological qualities of spiritual giants like Buddha for example? Or does spirituality transcend astrology? Also, I often read what several astrologers have to say about my sign and pick the reading I like best. Is this OK? Plus, is astrology any use for someone who is already happy? And do you think vulnerable people could become dependent on someone telling them how their lives will pan out? Meera
Dear Meera, What great questions. I'll try to answer them all over the next few days.

What are we like...?
|
Hello Jonathan,
What, if any, are the astrological qualities of spiritual giants like Buddha and so-called 'enlightened' people? Or does spirituality transcend astrology? Meera (aged 17)
Hi Meera,
We don't have reliable birth details for the great teachers who founded world religions - but I'd be surprised if their horoscopes shared many 'special qualities'. Your second question strikes a chord with me. I think we all have a capacity to become clear, conscious and in tune with higher wisdom. Our birth charts neither prevent nor permit this. They just describe what we're like when we're not in such a state!

Your Week Ahead
|
The big news, this week, is the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus. Every 14 years, these two heavenly heavyweights sit near each other in the zodiac for a while. The world changes, often quite dramatically, while their combined influence is strong. This time round, they're part of the 'cosmic cross' or 'T-square' in the sky that also involves Saturn and Pluto. When we read the newspapers, we keep hearing stories that amaze us. And in our individual lives, we hardly know what we dare believe any more. But this is all leading to something very positive. I am currently at the Sunrise Celebration Festival in Somerset.
